The Gold Refining Process

Ensuring precious metals are refined by a reputable and accredited refinery can make all the difference for producers and their business goals. Our detailed step-by-step process ensures our partners receive the highest quality and purity of gold.

1. Doré Melting

The assay process starts in the Melt House, where rough gold deposits are melted and electromagnetically stirred. Immersion dip sampling extracts representative samples from the mixed metal before analysis.

2. Sampling

Five samples are taken, with three sent to the laboratory and two retained for independent customer and umpire analysis.

3. Assaying

Our advanced assay laboratories are staffed by highly trained chemists and technicians with over 20 years of combined experience. We use high accuracy microbalances and dual-stream analysis (XRF screening and fire assay) to ensure precise and representative results. Our assaying is so accurate that our gold analysis is within 0.001 percent for gold, as tested by the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA).
